Submission Guidelines for Stories, Poems & Artwork

TWoM

Submission Guidelines for Stories, Poems & Artwork

Submission Prerequisite:
All authors, artists, poets and columnists are required to subscribe to our magazine by signing up for our mailing list. The only information required for this is your valid e-mail address. We will keep your e-mail address confidential; it will not be sold to advertisers or targeted for junk e-mail.

Stories
The World of Myth considers stories in the following genres: Action, Adventure, Horror, Fantasy, Humor and Science Fiction. We accept a variety of story submissions, ranging from “Flash” fiction (under 100 words), short-shorts (under 500 words) and short stories (under 3,000 words). While we do publish stories longer than 3,000 words, they will be serialized in more than one issue if accepted.

We prefer stories submitted as an MS-Word attachment or, if that’s not available to you, in a Rich Text Format document. We also accept submissions embedded in the body of the e-mail text (contact the editor before submitting in other formats). Submissions should be double spaced with one inch margins, non-justified and sent as an e-mail attachment. Also, spell-check your work, double space between sentences and underline words that need to be italicized.

Please include a cover letter with your story that includes: your name, e-mail address, word count, title of story, the genre, a brief story description and a short bio of 50 words or less. (Stories longer than 3,000 words will require author-formatted serialization and a synopsis, outline or more thorough description.)

Be advised that TWoM is not interested in stories containing explicit sex, excessive violence or strong profanity (i.e. no “f” bombs or god-d***). Our magazine is intended to be enjoyable for young and old alike. Don’t send in anything that you wouldn’t want your own teen to read. Additionally, potential sponsors for our site are looking for a target audience (see: Advertisers). In any event, the Editor in Chief has the final say in what is or is not published.

Send all stories to the Editor in Chief.

Poetry
Poems should be 500 words or less and you may submit up to three poems at a time.

Artwork
Basically, we are looking for anything with interesting subject matter. Please submit your artwork as an attachment in J-peg (.jpg) format with at least 100 dpi. Limit submissions to three pieces of art per attachment. Indicate if you would like to include a webpage or link with your illustration and please send a short bio, 50 words or less.

If your story, poem or artwork is accepted, please indicate if you would like to include a webpage link at time of publication. Send all artwork and poems here: MariletaHunsford@DarkMythProductions.com.

Payment
At this time The World of Myth is primarily a voluntary venture, which means all we can offer is a showcase for talent. As such, reprints are welcome. Stories, poems and artwork may include a link to a website the author or artist requests. To reiterate, we do not offer any type of payment for submissions published on the site; however we do award a prize for the “Member of the Month” and “Member of the Year” winners.

Copyrights

Copyrights remain with the author, poet or artist at all times. However, we do ask that you refrain from re-posting your work anywhere else after notification of acceptance and for 60 days after TWoM publishes your work. During this time, permission is granted to contributors to freely post hyper-links which allow others to read their work on our site. By submitting your work to this magazine, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these guidelines.

Reply Time
Please allow up to four weeks for a reply to any submissions.

For any questions concerning submissions, contact the Editor in Chief.
